Right to Carry Laws: Where They Stand and Where They're Going

Posted in: NRA
When I talk to gun owners around the country, one topic always comes up: the right to carry firearms for self-defense. It's a topic I'm always glad to talk about, because it's been one of the great victories of the gun rights movement in America and a top priority for the NRA-ILA since the 1980s.

NRA rebuttal to the DISCLOSE ACT and more...

Posted in: NRA
Regarding the NRA's stance on the DISCLOSE ACT:  This is a very long post and has a lot of details many of you may not want to read it. I am writing this because there has been so much mis-information about recent developments that I felt obligated to try and clear up some of this up in the hopes it will help everyone get a clearer understanding about NRA and why it does what it does.

Rebuttal to "Is the NRA going to support Harry Reid for re-election?" article posted on Funreviews.net

This is by a member of the board and was emailed to me for consideration to post.  The NRA wanted to explain the situation and why they may be considering the support of Harry Reid.
There are some good points, although it comes down to trusting a politician.  Ack.

Common Sense BATFE Reform Gathers Steam

As part of his business, Virginia firearm dealer Allan Broughman often customized rifles for customers. But in 2006, an inspector from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) observed Broughman "assembling a barrel, a receiver and a stock for a customer:” Since federal law specifically allows dealers to engage in "making or fitting special barrels, stocks or trigger mechanisms to firearms”, Broughman was surprised when the BATFE accused him of "manufacturing" a firearm without a manufacturer's license.  Now, Broughman is fighting the agency in court with the help of NRA-ILA.

Bloomberg to Obama: Take "Federal Action" on Guns

“Improvise, adapt and overcome" has been a motto of the Marine Corps for a long time. That basic principle has served some of America's best and bravest as they have defended freedom on battlefields overseas. Unfortunately, it has now been appropriated by the highest-profile anti-gun activist in our country as he wages a campaign against freedom on the domestic front.

Canada's Reversing the "Irreversible Ratchet" of Gun Control

Posted in: NRA
If all goes well in the Canadian parliament, Dominion gun owners will be freed from 14 years of living under the crushing weight of a bureaucratic, scandal-ridden, wasteful, invasive, $2 billion, error-ridden and inarguably worthless long gun registry. The registry has been proven a fraud in regard to promised minimal costs and significant impact on violent crime.

Right-to-Carry: Earning America's Trust

When we were young, we all learned to look out for people who can't-or won't-lift themselves up through character, intelligence and hard work, but instead try to get what they want by tearing others down.

Maybe Brady Campaign Should Switch To Decaf

Posted in: NRA
The hand-wringers at the Brady Campaign must have figured out what the rest of us have known for quite some time.  Having been rendered all but entirely irrelevant, at least for the time being, the group is resorting to weird publicity stunts, in a vain attempt to again be taken seriously by its former not-so-secret admirers in the national anti-gun news media.

NRA-ILA : Gun Owners Under Watchful Eyes

I remember back in 1992 and 1993 when U.S. Rep. Major Owens, D-N.Y., tried to do away completely with our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. It goes without saying what I thought of Owens' goal. But, at least he didn't lie, or even try to trick anyone about what he was trying to accomplish.

Savage Fury

Through cable news networks and scores of website postings, millions of Americans have seen the horrifying beating death of a 16-year-old Chicago honor student-bludgeoned by a thug swinging a five-foot length of heavy lumber. The cell phone video taken by a bystander in the midst of chaotic gang violence shows the boy slumping to the pavement unconscious then trying to get to his feet only to be hit, stomped and kicked by more gangbangers. And there is laughter. A girl's desperate voice says, "Darrion, get up:' He never regained consciousness.
